How to Report a Case

Reports are submitted through GU360, which pulls student information directly from Banner so there is less for you to enter by hand. Most submissions take under ten minutes if you have the materials on hand (see below).
Who can report
Any member of the University community may report a suspected violation, whether faculty, teaching assistant, staff, or student, and whether or not they are enrolled in the same course. Faculty are obligated to report apparent violations rather than resolving them privately with the student.
Before you start
Having these items on hand turns a half-hour job into a ten-minute one:
- The student’s name and NetID, and the course and section.
- A short-written statement of what you observed and why you believe a violation occurred.
- The assignment or exam in question and your syllabus.
- Any supporting evidence (e.g., drafts, email communication, names of witnesses, etc.).
Submitting the report
1. Log into your GU360 account.
2. Click on Form Submissions, Upload and Review
3. Click on Honor Council Report
What happens next
- We confirm all required materials are present.
- An investigating officer (IO) from the faculty assembly is assigned.
- The student is formally notified and assigned an IO and student consultant.
- The investigating officer investigates and reports to the Executive Board.
- The Board decides whether the case is closed, resolved through the expedited process, or referred to a hearing.
You will be copied on the initial correspondence. You may be contacted by the IO and may reach out to them directly if desired. If the case goes to a hearing, you are strongly encouraged to attend.
